We were about an hour into our trip when we finally saw a Walmart. The whole family was pretty damn happy about that since we had no more movies to watch in the car, and I don't believe Gena and Bluey were thinking happy thoughts about Bailey and my behaviour.
We arrived in Philadelphia at about 4:00pm and wasted no time unpacking and walking up to the original Mitchell & Ness - an American nostalgia sports clothing company that produces throw-back and retro apparel. Bailey and I have been waiting nearly 4 months for this day.
My favorite shop in the entire world......
From 4:10pm to 7:00pm when the store closed, we were in there, going hard. In the end I think we got about $1500 worth of goods for $415. I could spend a whole day - and a whole lot of money in that store if I was allowed! I am hoping we might sneak back in for another look tomorrow?
Apparently we like our Mitchell & Ness Snapbacks..... yes, that is 18 you count
Next up was dinner, and we knew exactly where we were going, even in Australia we had heard about Philly Cheese Steaks, and how good they were. In America, we have been hearing even more about them, but nothing prepared us for how good it was. There are two original makers of the cheese steak, right across the road from each other, Geno's and Pat's, tonight we had Pat's but I think we are definitely stopping in to try Geno's tomorrow night. These places are like Ben's Chilli Bowl in D.C, everybody who's anybody has been here, Oprah, Rob Scheider, Sylvester Stallone - Rocky took Adrian to Pat's in the first movie.
The famous Geno's on one corner.........
........ and the equally famous Pat's on the opposite corner
I'm not sure what's happening tomorrow, but from my first impressions Philadelphia is awesome!
