Minnehaha Depot
Aview of the fall from halfway down
A view from below.... you can almost make out the people up top
There they are - Riley, Bailey & Gena above the falls
After we spent an hour there, we were back at Mall of America to take in a movie. We couldn't agree on one for all of us to see, so Gena decided that she was watching 'The Odd Life of Timothy Green' while Bailey, Bluey and I went to see 'The Watch' (very funny).
The highlight of the day was yet to come though, Bluey again surprised Bailey and I - this time with tickets to the Minnesota Vikings vs Buffalo Bills pre-season game that night, our first ever NFL game! I was expecting a pretty quiet crowd since it wasn't even a game for points, but I couldn't be more wrong. It was nearly a full house, and pre-game there was fireworks, cannons firing, a big Viking on a chopper, which he rode out onto the field, cheerleaders, and the fans were wild! There was a mexican wave that went for the whole of the 2nd and 3rd quarters and part of the 4th! During the latter half of the mexican wave everybody was throwing the program booklets that everybody in attendance received when they took up their seat. It turned mental, I would've hated to be a cleaner that night! The wave finally died down and then paper planes were getting thrown towards the players, spit balls shot at security guards, it was out of control but heaps of fun!
In the end the Vikings ended up winning 36-14 so the night ended on a high at The Mall of America SuperDome. We were home by 10.30pm and off to bed a short while later as we had a 6 hour drive ahead of us in the morning. Of course some photos from the game would be nice - but wouldn't you know, the camera was forgotten again.
On arrival in Milwaukee we drove past Miller Park - home of the Milwaukee Brewers MLB team - and the tailgate parties had started in preparation for tonight's game against Philadelphia. It was decided straight away that Bluey, Bailey, and I needed to go to the game while Gena chose to spend a night out at the Casino. Miller Park was amazing, toss up between SF Giants Stadium and this one for the best we have been to. While there we met some very nice people. They, like us had bought tickets up in the nose bleed section and had moved down to just behind third base. They loved their Wisconsin pro teams. The ladies were very nice, Cindy and Sue, and they shared their licorice and peanuts with Bailey and I and their beer with Bluey. They certainly helped us have a great night. The only lowlight was the Brewers lost 4-3.
Mike Fiers pitching for the Brewers
John Mayberry batting for the Phillies
Unfortunately for Fiers and the Brewers, this got hit for a 2 run Home Run
Meeting Cindy & Sue was definitely a highlight
as was also the Big Hotdog race
Once Gena came home she informed us she too had met some very nice people, Jennifer & John, who invited us out to dinner tomorrow night. All we know is that we need to be ready for 5.30pm pick up. We are certainly looking forward to meeting them tomorrow evening.
~Riley.
